Energy recuperation

What do you do with waste you cannot avoid or recycle? Wood waste and silt, for example, are residual flows which can be considered for energy recuperation. But do you possess the right knowledge and technology to realise this? VITO can support you from start to finish.

Is energy recuperation an appropriate option?
You cannot prevent or re-use particular residual flows. However, you can sometimes recuperate a considerable part of the energy via, for example, combustion, gasification or fermentation. This is only possible if waste has particular characteristics, such as a high enough caloric value. Is investment in energy recuperation worthwhile?
