Solvent emissions

The European Solvent Emissions Directive obligates you to limit the emission of Volatile Organic Substances (VOS). You may adopt purification techniques or a source-oriented approach. VITO knows which legislation applies to your specific situation and advises you in selecting the most cost-effective solution.

Accurate measurements, also under difficult conditions
Many industrial processes, such as painting and gluing, use solvents. This normally results in emissions of Volatile Organic Substances (VOS). Under government regulations, you are obligated to perform concentration measurements or establish a solvent balance. VITO has extensive experience in sampling volatile components under difficult conditions, such as in the case of high water and solvent concentrations. We measure totals or identify each component individually.

Selecting the right purification technology
In order to remain below emission limits, you decide to invest in a purification technique. VITO investigates which technologies you could consider. We thoroughly examine the technical and economic feasibility. You can also count on our expert advice to compare the offers of various suppliers. If you should so desire, we can also help you to implement the selected solution. This guarantees you a wise investment.

Tackling the problem at the source
Legislation encourages you to opt for a source-oriented approach. VITO is well aware of the techniques used within your sector. We can thus evaluate your company for the use of the best available techniques. This enables us to effectively estimate the requirements which the regulating authority may impose on your company. Thus you will never be caught unaware. Thereafter, we will support you in looking for cost-effective measures. Of course, in doing so, we continue to focus on the technical practicality of the solution.
