Biomedical implants speed up recovery from serious bone breaks. Biomolecules are also used in antimicrobial packaging, templates for tissue generation or biosensors. VITO has accumulated significant expertise in both fields.
Biomedical implants
Bio-medical implants, based on highly porous implant materials, offer new opportunities for manufacturers of medical products. They improve bone growth into the implant and speed up bone repair in serious breaks. However, the right structure and material must be selected. VITO’s expertise in ceramic and powder metallurgy components guarantees you an optimum combination of strength and bioactivity.
Highly porous implant materials can be made from various materials acceptable for medical applications, such as CoCr alloys, Ti and Ti alloys, stainless steel, hydroxyapatite and other calcium phosphates. Porosity, pore size as well as the shape of components can be adjusted to suit the needs.
VITO also sets up small test series.
Biomolecules
Biomolecules offer many interesting application possibilities for materials. VITO studies how you can best implement bioactive components into your product or production process. We carry out research into mobilising functional molecules via plasma technology, on a wide range of materials. Some typical applications include antimicrobial packaging, templates for tissue generation or biosensors.
Start-up series
