VITO has added its signature to the international appeal to world leaders to break the impasse in international climate negotiations. The ‘2°C Challenge Communiqué’ criticises the lack of action on a successful transition to a green and climate neutral economy. A concern shared fully by VITO.
The communiqué was issued by business leaders from diverse sectors – energy, financial, mining, retail, production… – under the umbrella of the ‘Corporate Leaders Network for Climate Action’ (CLN). CLN is a network of business groups with members from Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States.
Hundreds of companies and NGOs have already signed the communiqué. Earlier CLN communiqués on the occasion of international climate negotiations enjoyed enormous support. This year the business leaders wish to emphasise that the window of opportunity available to stabilise warming at 2°C has almost closed. Without an international agreement, severe consequences threaten at world level, and investments in the green economy will not achieve their full potential.
