CLIMATE POLICY BASED ON SCIENCE
In recent years, VITO has given important scientific input in support of Flemish and Belgian climate policy. In 2010, the research organisation played a key role in the Belgian climate delegation during the Belgian presidency of the European Union. VITO's climate expertise as well as its experience in the area of process guidance proved extremely useful in fulfilling this task.
Climate change is one of the hot issues on the international political agenda. Scientific knowledge is indispensable to conduct an
effective, cost-efficient climate policy. Precisely for this reason, both the Flemish and the federal government appeal to VITO’s climate expertise in giving form to their energy and climate policy. The research organisation has focused strongly in recent years on developing innovative technologies, instruments, systems and services that make the transition to a more sustainable energy supply possible.
