Coastal and inland waters are being studied using remote sensing. Satellite and airborne observations are combined with radiative transfer models and in-situ measurements of the inherent optical properties to derive (1) concentrations of surface suspended sediment, chlorophyll, Coloured Dissolved Organic Matter (CDOM) and (2) bottom properties. Special attention is directed to the atmospheric correction above water bodies including the detection and correction of adjacency effects.
