Project Objectives
The TIGER Capacity Building Facility (TCBF) Phase 2 aims at supporting the research actions of the initiative. As a major component of this new phase, TCBF is devoted to support African scientists to develop the scientific skills and the technical capacity to make the best use of Earth Observation technology to better understand, assess and monitor the status of the water resources in Africa as well as the potential impacts of climate change, hence establishing sound scientific bases for developing effective adaptation or mitigation measures at political level in the continent. The second objective is to build on regional water information systems at the three identified TIGER Regional Offices (RCMRD, AGRHYMET and WRC), based on the data that is received through the DDS system. This system should supply other users in the region with relevant data for water management.

Methodology
Training to the TIGER projects is organised at two levels. There are 4 general training courses organised in Africa for all the TIGER projects. Besides this, all projects receive tailored capacity building at the supervising institute. Based on the user requirements from the Regional Offices, VITO is developing and implementing the regional water information system.

(Expected) Results
The regional water information system implemented and installed at the three regional TIGER offices.

VITO Contribution
Collaboration with the Regional Offices to establish the regional water information system.
